Even when pausing for breath, the slower numbers like 'Gouge Away' & 'Subbacultcha' are tough-as-nails & seethe with a barely contained fury. This December 1991 set is naturally heavily weighted towards the band’s then current record, ‘Trompe Le Monde' - All but 2 of its 15 songs are represented here. 'Head On', originally by the Jesus and Mary Chain, is a rare cover version amongst the Black Francis compositions. The only other non-original here is 'Cecilia Ann', a number cut in the early 1960’s by The Surftones. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixies

Tracklist.

Rock Music 2.04
Cecila Ann 2.01
Gouge Away 3.42
Motorway To Roswell 4.19
Alec Eiffel 2.54
Velouria 3.45
Crackity Jones 1.39
Distance Equals Rates Times Time 1.50
Manta Ray 2.25
Dancing the Manta Ray 2.30
Lovely Day 2.16
Subbacultcha 2.30
Letter To Memphis 2.34
Palace of the Brine 1.44
Ed is Dead 2.44
Wave of Mutilation 3.07
Monkey Gone To Heaven 3.39
Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons 3.01
The Sad Punk 2.49
The Navajo Know 2.06
Planet of Sound 2.37
Head On 2.08
U-Mass 3.01
